Increasing Prostrations

The Fiqh of the Optional Prayers

Upcoming Courses:

28-29 Jun Dhaka

After the five obligatory prayers that every Muslim needs to perform, there are a number of other prayers of incredible benefit
in Islam. This course will endeavour to shed light on these prayers and the specifics regarding them, so we can increase our
imaan and become more faithful to our Lord.

Learning about these prayers and how to perform them correctly will enable us to become closer to the Prophet in the Hereafter,
as evidenced in this amazing exchange between the Prophet and the companion Rabiah who narrates, “I used to spend my nights
in the company of the Messenger of Allah and used to bring him water for ablution, one day the Prophet said to me, “Ask something of me.”
I replied, “I request your companionship in Jannah.” He asked “Is there anything else?” I said “That is all”. He said, “Then help me
to achieve that for you by increasing your prostrations.” Muslim

Learning about these various prayers will add variety to your worship and also help you to take advantage of the different
opportunities where a prayer could be performed. Some prayers are performed at certain times, whilst others on specific
occasions; some vary in wording, and others in the physical manner in which they are performed.

It was narrated that Abu Hurayrah (may Allaah be pleased with him) said: “The first of his deeds for which a person will be brought to account on the Day of Resurrection will be his prayer. If it is sound then he will have succeeded but if it is not sound then he will be lost and doomed. If anything is lacking from his obligatory prayers, the Lord will say: ‘Look and see whether My slave has any voluntary (prayers),’ and the shortfall from his obligatory prayers will be made up from that. Then all his deeds will be dealt with in like manner.” (Tirmidhi)
